Today’s Thought 5/20 Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Col 3:1
It’s the season of graduations and with graduations go graduation speeches. Some are inspirational, others are somewhat comical, but most will implore the graduates to pursue their dreams, aspire to greatness, etc. I think the inspired Apostle Paul would have made a great commencement speaker. Perhaps the best advice that can be given to a young person today is the simple thought in today’s verse, “set your hearts on things above, where Christ is.” When you set your heart on Jesus, and let the Lord be the Lord in your life, good things will always follow. While you may not achieve great wealth or power, you may even have a job that isn’t that fulfilling, yet it provides, nevertheless, if you set your heart on things above, in Christ, you will always have the peace and comfort that comes from knowing that the Lord will never forsake you. You already have your reward, Jesus won it for you. Now live it! Prayer: Dear Lord Jesus, when I’m anxious about my future, reassure me that you will always guide me in the path of righteousness and that my future is secure when I place my trust in you. AMEN
